Accessibility

As a public body within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2016/2102, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences endeavours to make websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Hessian Disability Equality Act (HessBGG) and the Hessian Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (HVBIT) for the implementation of Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

This declaration on accessibility applies to the website design.h-da.de and other websites of h_da, but not to other websites and subdomains that are not offered via the central web content management system (Web-CMS, maintained by Webdienste [ITDuA]) of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.

Status of compatibility with the requirements

This website is partially compatible with EU Directive 2016/2102 and the HessBGG and HVBIT due to the following exceptions.

Non-accessible content

The contents listed below are not barrier-free for the following reasons:

PDF documents embedded in the website

  • Videos integrated into the website
  • Image material used in the website, animated image material integrated into the website is not accessible in parts
  • Content elements used in the website with Javascript functionality are not accessible in parts

Justification PDF documents

Due to the large number of PDF documents provided that were created before 23 September 2018, it has not yet been possible to convert them into an accessible format.

For a barrier-free design

  • Templates are being planned for the creation of accessible documents (module handbooks, BBPO)
  • The old inventory will be successively adapted.

Excluded from this are

  • Documents provided by third parties (e.g. other organisations, ministries, etc.) if they are not accessible.
  • Replacements are made during editorial maintenance when updates are available. The accessibility of external documents cannot be assessed.

Reason Videos

  • The provision of videos with an audio description has not yet been realised.

Reason for animated images

  • An accessible realisation of animated images in the form of a content slider is planned for the next technically necessary upgrade of the CMS system used.
  • Barrier-free preparation of the image material (ALT text, description) is communicated to the departmental editorial offices (decentralised editorial organisation), but is not technically enforced.

Justification Content elements with Javascript functionality

  • A barrier-free implementation of the content elements with Javascript functionality is planned for the next technically required upgrade of the CMS system used.
  • A barrier-free preparation of the content with a limited use of the elements accordion, tabs, content slider is recommended to the editorial offices, there is no technical restriction.
