Institute for Design Research
The Institute for Design Research (IDF) at the Department of Design at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is a platform for co-operative, interdisciplinary and scientific research and development projects in the field of design theory and practice.
It promotes scientific and design-related issues and their integration into teaching and study programmes. These focus on contemporary phenomena of everyday culture, e.g. design and sustainable development, design and gender or design and public health. Another focus is on the critical reflection of design methodology, theory and history. In these contexts, the influence of cultural, social, historical, philosophical and psychological aspects on design and the resulting interactions are explored.
